Justin Timberlake – Like I Love You Parody – as an intro to my Marlon Vlogger Channel. Yes, it had to be done! Thought I best step it up a gear and do something creative on the channel as well as telling you a bit about myself before I carry on the vlogs.
So after making a few vlogs about what was going on in my life, I thought I would take a step back and explain a bit more about who I am, what keeps me ticking and cover off my main passions; Music, Film, Photography, Technology and Martial Arts.
This is going to be one of the make or break things for me as most people say to keep a website/video channel about one particular thing. Well I like more than one thing and don’t want to be covering one thing only. I know this has a tendency to alienate an audience, but I suspect I’m not the only one that does music and video or something else so I hope this will come across refreshing.
So, anyhow, in the intro sequence I attempt to replicate the intro to Justin Timberlake’s Like I love you mimicking the movements, poses and camera angles/lighting. for this I zoomed in with the lens to create that compressed look and create a softer background. From there, I filmed against a blue wall in the house and used day light to light the scene. I was then able to chroma key the blue background in to black and did some basic colour correction to give that overly saturated tungsten look that was on the original video, maybe not a look that they go for these days, but hey, I was trying to match it as best I could.
A few friends have asked me why I didn’t do the whole music video, well quite simply, it would have got a whole lot more complicated. I would have had to go on location, probably Morrisons. Not sure that would have had the same vibe. Then I would have had to start learning dance routines, getting a counter part to dance along side. I would have also had to call up Pharrell Williams to do the bit near the end – if he has said yes, then yeah, I would have booked some days off work and made it happen. Anyway, you get my point, best to stick with something achievable at this stage.
Let me know what you think of the video, did I manage to replicate the intro well? Do you think my colour grading matched, I would love to hear your comments.
